I asked a friend if Jesus was mentioned in the song Joy to the world after she mentioned her son (they keep a Jewish household)had learned the song and referenced Baby Jesus at home. I began to hum the tune and then sing the words... Joy to the world, all the boys and girls, joy to the fishies in the deep blue sea, joy to you and me.
I was the slightest bit mortified to discover that this was the wrong song. Apparently, I have not been brushing up on my Christmas carols and have only been listening to the oldies station where Three Dog Night is a popular choice.
I have completed the first of two quilts for my Dad. If I don't finish the second for Christmas he will never know. He doesn't read this blog (or any that I know of). He also doesn't know I planned to quilt two. YAY.
Quick survey:
What is the song you were most mortified to learn you were singing all the wrong lyrics to?
My personal favorite is hearing someone sing:
Blinded by the light
Wrapped up like a douche in the middle of the night!
Night all

One of my college roommates was caught singing, "Walking in the rain and the snow when there's nowhere to go, and you're feelin' like a part of you is dying.
And you're looking for the answer in a rise . . .."
And come to think of it, "Joy to the World" doesn't say baby Jesus anyway. At least not in any verse I know. Um. Which, well, is only one.
